N & C’s Greenhouse Micro Wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle
There’s something incredibly romantic about getting married in a greenhouse, surrounded by lush greenery, colorful flowers, and soft natural light.
N & C chose Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle for their intimate micro wedding, and it’s still one of my favorite greenhouse weddings I’ve photographed. I’ve been meaning to share this gallery for quite some time, and looking back through these photographs reminded me just how beautiful and personal their celebration was.
An Intimate Greenhouse Wedding in Seattle
Located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, Volunteer Park Conservatory is a historic glass greenhouse filled with tropical plants, ferns, and colorful flowers. It’s one of those places that feels like a little escape from the city, making it a beautiful setting for an intimate wedding or elopement.
For N & C, the conservatory provided a naturally romantic backdrop for their ceremony. Surrounded by their closest loved ones, they exchanged vows among the greenery, with the greenhouse’s white glass architecture framing the celebration.
One of my favorite things about photographing micro weddings is how personal they feel. There’s something special about celebrating with a smaller group of people, where every interaction feels meaningful and there’s more room to simply enjoy the day.
And I absolutely loved how C’s vibrant orange hair stood out against all the greenery!
Beautiful Natural Light at Volunteer Park Conservatory
As a Seattle wedding photographer, I’m always thinking about lighting, especially with our famously unpredictable Pacific Northwest weather.
It was a cloudy day for N & C’s wedding, but the lighting inside Volunteer Park Conservatory was absolutely gorgeous.
The glass ceilings and large windows allowed soft, diffused daylight to fill the greenhouse, creating beautiful, even lighting throughout the ceremony and portraits. I didn’t need to use flash at all!
In fact, overcast weather can be ideal for greenhouse wedding photography. Instead of harsh midday sunlight creating strong shadows, the clouds act like a giant diffuser, allowing us to photograph comfortably throughout the day.
For couples planning a Seattle micro wedding, this is one of the reasons I love greenhouse venues so much. You get the feeling of being surrounded by nature without having to worry quite as much about the weather.
Romantic Wedding Portraits Among the Greenery
After the ceremony, we spent some time exploring the conservatory and capturing portraits of N & C together.
One of the things I love about Volunteer Park Conservatory is how much variety you can find within a relatively small space. From tropical plants and colorful flowers to vintage greenhouse windows and beautiful architectural details, every corner offers something different.
Some of my favorite photographs from their wedding are the simplest ones: the two of them laughing together, sharing a kiss, or leaning into each other among the plants.
We also stepped outside for portraits in front of the conservatory’s iconic white greenhouse exterior. I especially loved photographing them dancing together, with C’s dress flowing as they moved.
The combination of the historic architecture, lush greenery, and their natural chemistry made this gallery such a joy to photograph.
Why Choose Volunteer Park Conservatory for a Seattle Micro Wedding?
If you’re looking for a unique location for a Seattle micro wedding or intimate elopement, Volunteer Park Conservatory is definitely worth considering.
Unlike a traditional wedding venue, the conservatory already has so much character. The tropical greenery, flowers, and beautiful glass architecture create a romantic atmosphere without requiring elaborate decorations.
It’s also a wonderful choice for couples who love botanical gardens, vintage architecture, or the idea of a garden wedding without being completely outdoors.
For photography, I particularly love the combination of intimate indoor portraits and the beautiful exterior of the greenhouse. Even a short wedding photography session can produce a diverse gallery of images.
If you’re considering getting married here, be sure to check with Seattle Parks and Recreation about current ceremony reservations, photography permissions, and venue guidelines before finalizing your plans.
