From Foggy Shores to Mountain Light: Olympic National Park Elopement Guide, Locations, and Inspiration
Olympic National Park stands on its own.
Rainforest, coastline, and mountain views come together within a single day. Katie and Nick’s elopement moved through each of these landscapes, beginning in fog and rain and ending in soft mountain light.
We started at La Push Beach at sunrise.
The morning was quiet and heavy with fog. The ocean faded into the distance, and the sky stayed low and muted. The air felt cold and damp, but the stillness created something intimate and grounded. There were no crowds and no distractions. Only the sound of waves and the two of them standing together at the edge of the water.
La Push is known for its dramatic sea stacks and rugged shoreline. On a morning like this, it feels calm and reflective, with every detail softened by the weather.
From the coast, we moved into the Hoh Rainforest for their ceremony.
The Hoh Rainforest is one of the most sought after locations for Olympic National Park elopements. It offers a sense of depth and texture that is difficult to find anywhere else.
The ceremony felt naturally suited to this part of the timeline, surrounded by soft light and layers of green.
One thing to keep in mind for this location is that mosquitoes can be fairly active, especially later in the day. Bringing bug spray will make a noticeable difference and allow you to fully enjoy the experience without distraction.
By early afternoon, we reached Hurricane Ridge.
We encountered so many animal friends!
The landscape opened up into wide views and soft alpine light. The fog and rain from earlier in the day gave way to clarity and distance. In August, Hurricane Ridge offers some of the best conditions in the park. The mountains stretch out in every direction, and the light adds a sense of scale and movement.
To close the day, Katie and Nick shared a quiet moment with champagne, taking in everything they had just experienced. A small group of deer moved through the distance, almost unnoticed at first, adding to the sense of stillness around us. We continued upward toward the mountaintop, where the light stretched across the ridgelines and the entire landscape opened up. It was a peaceful, expansive ending to a day that had unfolded so naturally from beginning to end.
K & N popping a champagne on top of Hurricane Ridge!
Olympic National Park offers a rare combination of environments within a single experience. The coastline at La Push, the quiet depth of the Hoh Rainforest, and the open views at Hurricane Ridge each contribute something distinct.
Katie and Nick embraced the full range of the day. The fog, the rain, and the light all became part of their story. Nothing needed to be forced. The setting carried the experience forward.
